About Us


Carmelita T. Muņiz has been the Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Alcohol and Drug Service Providers since September 1997.

As the Executive Director, Ms. Muņiz has effectively worked to promote, enhance, and recognize substance abuse and addiction prevention, intervention and treatment services and programs across Colorado. She works to increase public awareness, cross systems collaboration and public policy development, and represents a statewide trade association of service providers at the state legislature.

Ms. Muņiz holds membership and serves on behalf of the Association, on numerous public policy and regulatory groups, including the Colorado Methamphetamine Taskforce, Denver Drug Strategy Commission, SBIRT Advisory Board, Met Net, SBA Drug Free Workplace Advisory Board, TURN Advisory Board, Systems of Care Collaborative, Juvenile Justice – Mental Health Subcommittee, Prevention Leadership Council – Capacity Development Taskforce, the Women’s Legislative planning Committee, the Colorado Social Legislation Committee, and the HIV-Hep C Advisory Group.


Ms. Muņiz chaired the Colorado Substance Abuse Study Group (2000-2006), a statewide legislatively sanctioned public policy and advocacy group responsible for creating fact sheets and recommending legislation enacted into law. For over twenty-five years, Ms. Muņiz has actively volunteered on Boards and Commissions, effectively representing civic, cultural and social issues and groups.

Ms. Muņiz’ career included Human Resource Management, Employer Relations, Employment and Training Programming, Economic Development and Public Administration. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado with graduate coursework in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver, Graduate School of Public Administration. Throughout her career she has continued to amass professional development coursework and training.
